Default Suspension Design Characteristics...

Hi All,
I was interested to know, if anyone has some good relevant data
as to the suspension design characteristics on the CSX cars.
Items such as Roll Angle range, Camber and Toe gains and losses,
Roll centers, Center of gravity... things of the such. I'm doing a
scratch build and getting started designing my IRS. It would be
interesting to know what the benchmarks are, and see how things
stack up.

I searched this forum, because we plotted that all down once. Couldn't find it.
Don't get carried away with this too much:

Front:
lower arm 10.9", upper arm 8.6", upright (est.) 11.2", track 54,5"
Roll center at ride heigt: 4.5", at 1" bump: 3.6", at 2" bump 2.8"
The RC also moves sideways. Don't ask me how I got there, I did this in 2004.

Rear:
lwr 12.4", upr 11.4", upright 12.35" (6.73" down, 5.62" up), track 55.5"

Don't have the chassis mounting points with me. Ground clearance is 5".
CG front (estimated): 500mm, CG rear (est): 320mm

Hi Dominik,
Thank you very much for the link. Very informative.
I have been seeking any info on original cars to get
a good understanding as to how their suspensions
and dynamics reacted. I don't have a set of drawings
of the control arms and uprights to add to my chassis
drawings, so I haven't been able to determine IC's, RC's
and such. I would be very interested to know how much
bodyroll a factory and a (60's)raceprepped car endurred.
Not looking to replicate it, just like to know what the
benchmark was.

I'll keep a searchin !!

When did you get into making landing gear for the Discovery ?! !

The 427 rear suspension is very unique in toe and castor behaviour.
It's designed to change toe in bump and droop to assist turning into a corner and accelerating out. (yet, never toeing out)
In essence it features bump steer at the rear upright, but in a beneficial way.

Default There is a suspension setup disc for cars

krausewich Mike Try and google suspension CD's I believe there is one for setups of the car with all the angles and weights to build a car. The dirttrack guys use them sometimes. You can install spring rates, heights, angle of arms, bumpsteer, thrust angle and any thing else you can think of. There is a guy on this forum who is very good at this but doesn't have the time right now to do a setup for the car. I know he would needs all the aproximate weight of the corners,height,scrub, angle of arms, angles between upper and lower ball joints. I will ask if he will help. Rick L. I am also hoping to have my car get the same treatment.
