New FIA style wheels.
Tires are just for build use.

Step one = check.

I see you have the ride height set just the way you like it. Just kidding Jeff, 2317 is a beauty can't wait to see the build.

Started collecting parts. The fender mirror is Walpres style bullet.
Picked up a nice patina 30560.

1985 CCX 06-02-2015 10:46 AM

Funny Tom, have a spare 350?

Thor maine 06-02-2015 04:25 PM

How about an all aluminum 350 stroked to say 427 C.I. with a FAST EFI tied to a nice 5 speed?

Picked up a washer button.
Will need to paint button beige but that's easy.

LMH 06-02-2015 08:48 PM

Working on a second generation recreation washer switch now. I'm using my original as the pattern and will be casting buttons in correct ivory color soon. (Hopefully!)

Great work.......

Keep us posted.

1985 CCX 07-13-2015 12:21 PM

Larry still awaiting that new button......

Planning to get started next month on the welding of the frame. A local welding shop will provide finished welding so frame can be primed, painted and prepped for the body mounting. The shop is currently moving to a larger shop in July, hopes are that August brings this to completion. Will post pics once we are under way.

Started to discuss a motor with Cobra Automotive. Not sure if I should take the 5 bolt 289 route or go to a 6 bolt 289? Thoughts?

Planning a mild 300hp motor for ease of drive and use.

Any thoughts about 289's (Ford only) and there application?

LMH 07-13-2015 01:17 PM

Life has been in the way lately and I haven't been able to get with the guy doing the casting. He's up in PHX. Hopefully soon though!

Plenty of time.
How do you put in the button.
Is it a sleeve?

LMH 07-13-2015 07:10 PM

Kind of complicated but the button is actually two pieces. The button has a slot in the back that's machined out and a small flat tab fits in it and protrudes into the switch itself.
I have to cast the new buttons and have them micro machined. We copied the bezel using my original as the master, machined them out of brass and had them chromed. Actually a little nicer than the original. Just need more time to get with the caster for the buttons.
I watched an original sell for for $318 last week on eBay!

Not planning to use the VC but nice parts to have in stock.....
Early Cobra units... The crystal ball is to help with car #2 foresight.

CompClassics 08-17-2015 03:46 PM

Cobras use 5-bolt blocks, unless you plan on running an automatic...then a 6-bolt is called for.

1985 CCX 08-17-2015 04:22 PM

Yup 5 bolt.
T10 4spd for me.

If I went auto I would go Vette. **)
