Absolutely Jim!! I would love to see your car also. I enjoyed watching you prepare your FIA for vintage racing.

Next up, making some noise.
I have the engine in the run stand, just about ready for a test run.
It's been a few years since this one ran on the dyno but has been strored well.
I might try for a video of the start up!

Just testing the look for a boat build!!

After running the monster on the engine stand and all looking good with that it's time to put it back on the hook and get ready to install into the car.

Set up the clutch etc, removed a few items from the engine to help with clearance while lowering it into the engine bay.

A good friend and fellow cobra owner (HTM101, David) showed up early to spend the day and help with the engine and gearbox install, it was a great help to have an extra pair of eyes and hands to guide the engine and gearbox into place.

All went into place without too much drama, just how we like it!

Craig,

Nice judicious use of protection for the fenders and cowl. Yes, having a helping hand does make a huge difference. It's a pain trying to lower an engine in, line up the motor mounts and get the bolts in all by yourself. Been there, does that and it takes a lot longer that way.

Jim
I totally agree with you, engine installs remind me of the painting process, 95 percent prep 5 percent final paint.

Once we had everything ready to go it probably took 20 to 30 minutes to have the engine and gearbox sitting in place.

The time is in the prep and then all the fasteners and accessories.

Looks great Craig! The wheel color is perfect. What color is it? Paint or Powder Coat?

Thanks Mike,
The wheel coating is a powder coating my local powder coating guy and myself came up with.
In my opinion they look even better in person.
The FIA wheels on the 427 car was a must for Kevin, and I think we nailed it.

Now that we have the engine and gearbox sitting in place it's time to make it all work.
Large alternator pulley fits with just enough clearance

Making up and fitting the oil cooler hoses is next, the two piece turkey pan makes it easy to work on the carburator its self and the fabrication of the linkage.

The quick jacks are back from powder coating, I made up the mounting hardware and used the English whitworth stainless lock nuts.

Car is looking better and better with every little part added.

Uhhh, don't the nuts go outside on the QJs, not in?

See: Jack Pads - Plates Inside or Outside?

I set the rears up with the nuts inside and the fronts outside.

I say looks good.
Probably depended on the installer and the jack being used.
