Bob, I would have been one of those guys when I first started looking for a replica in earnest! For those of us who embark on a journey of discovery regarding our replicas, F5R is most likely the first website we look at...after all, F5R does claim that they sell more kits than all others combined and when you look at their prices they can sure look attractive...not to mention that if your can source a good "slightly damaged" Mustang you can practically put one together economically, which sounds pretty good to the uninformed and unwashed masses, right?

It's only after further investigation that you realize you'll be riveting panels for the next 3 or 4 months...that you may be putting parts on your replica that might have been the reason the "donor Mustang" was wrecked in the first place...you get the picture.

I remember going to a car show and seeing a roadster replica for the first time...yes, my question was "Is it a Factory Five" because it seemed more likely to be one of those than anything else just because of the number of kits that have been sold by F5R.

We all started this journey with NO knowledge...it's only through the process of discovery that we rule out what we don't want and whittle the decision down to a few tough choices. I'd suggest that through that process we can become educated enough that it's easy to forget how it was to ask those "should I be insulted?" questions at the beginning of our quest.

There's a thread about that age old question "Is it real?" somewhere here on the forum...I use to go into a long discussion regarding how our replicas are far superior to the "originals", but now I just tell them that it is a reproduction of an original, but with better handling and reliability than the originals ever had. Even that's too much info for the uninformed who just want to know if it's a $1,000,000+ car in front of them...and hoping that a "less expensive" option such as F5R might just be in their near future.

Cheers!
