Any interest in following my Mid Engine build?
Over the years you have graciously allowed me to post several builds that I've done. Only one of those was of a Cobra. That build only had a Cobra body. The rest was Corvette parts.
I recently finished my Cheetah inspired build. I love the car and drove it a lot over the summer. This winter I'm starting a new build. The body is a Manta Mirage. The styling is based on the Mclaren Can Am cars. The original 70's kit used a Chevy V8 mounted mid engine, hooked up to a flipped Corvair Transaxle. The front suspension was VW bug.
I watched a Can Am race at Riverside, CA in 1967. I fell in love with those cars then. Then in the early 70's there was a movie called "Gone in 60 seconds". A Manta was in the movie. I wanted one!
I'm going to build mine with LS power, C5 Vette rear suspension, Porsche transaxle and C4 Corvette front suspension.
I understand this build is well out of the realm of the Cobra forum. I will not be offended if there isn't any interest.
Having fun! Happy New Year. Hopefully 2021 will be much better than 2020.

Sure. I always like watching people that know what they are doing doing it.

John,
I, for one, would not have any problem with your posting your build here. Not a cobra, but you have been on the site for a while and what the hell, with all we have been through with 2020, why not. You have my vote. Happy New Year!
Jim

I suddenly have a Hardcastle and McCormick flashback, yes, I know, not the same car, but still
Can't wait to watch your build.

I wanted to do one of those back in the day. There is one here in Lafayette or was. It had an aluminum Buick and probably a corvair transaxle.

I almost bought one of these back in around 1987. Anxious to follow your build!

Thank you everyone. I'm anxious to get to it. I'm finishing some work on one of my other cars but should be able to move the Manta into my shop next week.
I am still in upstate NY. Elizabethtown.

Quite an outbreak of COVID when they brought that crew up from the Bronx! My wife's aunt is in E-town.
Looking forward to the build. Stay warm, John!

A number of years ago our county sold the nursing home to a private company. They let the local staff go and use labor from the city. They rotate staff. It's insane that they continued this during the Pandemic. Our nursing home suffered a lot of cases and a number of deaths.
For years my mother went to the home weekly to tell stories and sing. She quit doing this shortly before the outbreak. She's 82 now and suffers from dementia. I'm taking care of her now.

Sad story on both counts, John. That is a hard task for you... takes so much patience! We went through it with my wife's mom. Best of luck.

I may be more excited about this build than you. Also remember the same yellow car from the same movie. Your talent I’m sure will produce a great car. Count me in, I’ll be watching. And please paint it yellow!

John
I would love to follow, with C19 and winter + snowing. It might help the mental degredation in these times.

I've made every mistake that you can building my cars. It usually takes me multiple attempts to get something to the way I like it.
Thank you everyone for your encouragement. I'm starting the build thread tonight.

You learn more from your mistakes than your successes if you can afford the tuition!

I'm interested for sure.
Is that a kit of some type? Would love to hear more about it.
