Greetings Cooper.
I see that you're located in WA (Australia, not US). Are you in touch with the local Cobra Club? The Perth guys/gals visited us here in Adelaide several years ago; they're a nice group.
Anyway, information from a club local to you could be beneficial regarding registration requirements. I mention that because building your own chassis to emulate the original Cobra's chassis might cause extra problems with compliance at road registration time.
If you contact your state registration guys - they are the people who will check your car's compliance for road registration - that would be a good idea with you building your own chassis.

Best of luck, and please post updates here often

Cheers!
Glen

Contact with your state registration guys - the people who will check its compliance for road registration - would be appropriate as well particularly as you are building your own chassis.

I was looking at getting a G Force Cobra and Rob is super helpful and has a lot expertise with compliance procedures so I will chat to him. I plan to contact the local Cobra Club to see if those guys have any experience or contacts. I will also be contacting an engineer for the requirements. So in short I have a ridiculous amount of hoops to jump through.

My Arntz Cobra was designed and built by Ron Butler who was a fabricator and crew chief for Carroll's race team. It is built with a lot of extra strength. After more than 30 years of work on my car and studying every other Cobra, I have another answer.

Check out the DAX Cobra built in England. Their frame allows the seats to set lower which would be very nice since my head is above the windshield. Their suspension setup is unique and much better than any other race car at maintaining tires camber angle through curves.
