No, he sold the body and completed his FF5 with the factory body.

There was an aluminum body I saw at FF open house on one of their frames. I almost wept to see what they had done and the way they did it.

Cut into the rocker panels and bent them down and out to through bolt it to the frame!

Default uprights

good morning,
I thought I posted this already, but can't find it:
(should be placed under uprights anyway, shouldn't it?)

back to the rear uprights:

I get mine cast from 356 aluminium and heat treated to T6 spec, resutling in a hardness of 76 to 84 Rockwell B (Brinell 122 to 140) and get them crack tested.

I am no professional in casting, but those number look good to me!

the first machine shop I spoke to estimated 4 hours of machining each, the current one will do them shortly, but needs to program the CNC first.
that will result in minutes of machining time.

I used hub and spindle from a Granada for the current two cars, but will switch to 6-pin hubs soon thereafter.

depending on the "meat" inside the casting you can fit a variety of bearings and hubs.

get the "as cast" measurements and look around to find out what could fit.

why did the Kirkham body not fit to the FFR chassis?
well, it doesn't, but there is always a way...

cheers,

dominik
