Tie Rod ends?

I bought a rack from a High Tech Cobra that supposedly hasn't been installed before. I assume it will fit up to my CSX style chassis mounting points.

However, I don't know what tie rod ends I need to mate this rack up to my Mustang II spindles. Any ideas? Alex, what are you using?

I purchased a Flaming River MGB/Cobra rack and it is set up for Mustang II tie rod ends. I would think that manufactures would use this "universal" tie rod end for their application. But..........

You can also use a very high quality high angularity rod end, but it would require drilling the hole in the spindle to remove the taper.

Bob,
What I used would not work for your application. I used the following:
AFCO Part # AFC10270 Adaptor bolt-Rack Eye. I also turned on the lathe an adapror sleve and threaded left and right hand threads.
As you know, pretty much all my parts have been modified for my needs.
You will probably have to make yourself an adaptor, as I did.

Right day for this question. I was going through a storage container of Cobra parts and found a NIB Hi-tech tie rod end. It is a TRW ES429R. It definately will work on the rack. Not sure if the taper is right for the mustang side. I have a front corner from a mustang coming for another project this week, I will check the fit when it gets here. We also have front suspension parts that will fit originals and Hi-techs if anyone needs help getting all the parts togather.

Let me know if the tie rod end fits the Mustang II spindle steering arm so I don't buy the wrong parts (again)

What other Hi Tech suspension parts do you have available?

We have one or more of just about everything for 289 and 427 suspension. If we only have one left than we make the parts so we always have a sample. The 427 Hi-tech used a Galaxy front spindle which was modify for use on the Hi-tech chasis. I will let you know if the tapers match up later this week when the parts get here.

Tie rod works perfect should be no problem for threads on rack and taper on upright.

My rack arrived about an hour ago and it came with one tie rod end attached and a steering arm for one front upright attached to that. Maybe they couldn't get it apart? Obviously, this rack has been attached to a vehicle at some point in time, but not in the last 5 or 6 years at the least according to the guy who sold it to me. Still feels very smooth and solid.
I'll check to see if the tie rod end with it fits (when I get it apart and to see if there is a part # on it.)

BTW Mike, If I had seen your gorgeous billet uprights and other parts, I may have changed my mind and gone with original style suspension all around just to have your pieces on my car- unbelievable work! Maybe my next build?

Just checked and the tie rod end with the rack is a perfect fit. No part # on the part, though.
So now I only need one tie rod end and a jam nut to complete the package. The rack dropped right in like it belonged there. And the tie rod end is the right length also. One of my better days on this build.....

Part number should be the same as the one I posted ES429R. Not sure what your rack height needs to be, but the Hi-Tech ran a 3/4" spacer.

I'm not sure what the rack height will work out to since I'm using Mustang II spindles instead of the Hi-Tech weldment uprights. The rack came with the spacers, bolts, etc... already set up. I'll have to do some calculations, if I can figure out how, to see if I need to change the spacer length. Probably be best to wait until I set my ride height?

Now I just have to figure out who sells the TRW tie rod ends....

TRW/FEDERAL MOGUL are the same you sould be able to cross over to a PERFECT CIRCLE/DANA Napa will hve them.
