Default Fox's 289 Leaf Spring Chassis

As some of you know I am slowly building a 289 Cobra.

What started out as a "save my money for an ERA" has turned into a scratch build when I stumbled on a CSX prototype fiberglass comp car body about a year ago.

I had brief intentions of welding up a 289 leaf spring frame but when I really thought about a novice (me) fabricating a frame for 2200 pound car with 300+ hp, I realized that would have made me a candidate for next years Darwin Awards...

Enter Kris Kincaid, aka SpecialK, aka Kris at csxinfo.net and Roaring Sixties Motorsports. After some emails back and forth and some patience (on his part), I am now the proud owner of a 289 leaf spring chassis, front and rear suspension with Baer brakes, and six pin knock-offs hubs.

The chassis arrived Monday evening and I am very excited to actually get started on what is beginning to resemble a Cobra build.

I have added a few so-so pictures to my gallery and attatched a few below for all to see. I don't know if the pictures are dim because of the recent overcast GA weather or because my PB&J fingered 4 year old was the last to use the digital camera.... I will try to get better pics up this weekend.

Talking

Congradulations, and I am green as heck with envy My first car was a 62 MGA, and my third was a Tiger. These two reasons are why I find the 289 street car so elegant. My last car will be a 289 street car, aka slabside. When ever my new shop picks up enough to justify buying a kit I will build it.

Forget the better handling, ride of the new, and improved. Duplicating a street car with the leaf springs is a real plus. Congradulations once again, and I am looking forward to watching your car develop!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing more. I hope you consider keeping this thread as a starting point to well thought out, precise photo records of your progress, and more importantly build notes for others to ponder.
