Default Gap Filler/Seam Sealer

I have a some .5" gaps in areas where my foot boxes meet the scuttle hoop and was wondering what would best to seal the area off? I thought about using some Auveco 9001, but their literature says it must be painted which I do not want to. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jay

Default seam sealer

Home Depot has a 3M product I cannot recall what it is called but it is a urethane seam sealer for marine applications. Really good **** availiable in tan or black.
Also look in the yellow pages under "auto body shop, supplys"
Those places have lots of good stuff for cobra builders.
There are several mfgrs of seam sealer/adhesives that will do the job (3M, Lord fusor, Kent) but most are a two part system that must use a mixer/applicater gun that is kinda' expersive.

Tim, Thanks for the lead at Home depot, I'll give them a try. Unfortunately their are no auto body supply businesses locally, they all moved to the bigger towns 45 miles away.

I think this is the stuff GM uses, supposedly very good.

Those are some big gaps to fill, what about a good profile of rubber to slip over the footbox edge and squish against the body. Try Steele at http://166.82.96.3/homeframes.html

Check out this page in McMaster Carr catalog for edge connected bulb seal. Should work perfect for your situation.

Thanks for the ideas of some type of rubber seal. I have to admit I got so wrapped up in using some type of sealer, I didn't think of the more obvious solution for large gaps. Doh!!! I'll check out Steele and McMaster as well as some left over strips I have from other parts of the car.
