Default Newbie

Hi everyone, I'm a complete newbie and have some basic questions for you guys. I bought a car off someone about 9 months ago and got wrapped up in work. I'm now ready to finish it. It need to finish off the the interior (aluminum and carpet), some fiberglass work and paint. It drives great and I love every minute of it.

My questions are around finishing off the interior. I've seen some builds where people have drilled into the frame to secure the aluminum floor panels. Should i be concerned about doing this? I used to be a MechE and have real hang ups about frame integrity. Am I being too anal? Will a couple of holes every foot or so really change things? Also what is the best aluminum to use? Are there different types that i should look out for? I.E. what gauge? are there other quality grades to look for?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Unless you're planning on drilling 20 holes around the periphery of the tube, you're not going to make much of a difference.

We use 5052H32 (marine grade) for all our aluminum panels. Less corrosion.
