Both are old pics...at one time or another, anyone who could pound out a body has tried to be SA's supplier.

Brooklands built the earliest 1000 series cars. Probably 12 or so? North Devon have built the later ones. The Brooklands cars have a more subtle rear flare like the early comp cars while the North Devon have rear flares like this car posted earlier:

I think North Devon is using a fiberglass 4000 body for their buck, and I think they look great. The chassis is also built like a fiberglass 4000 with a rear sway bar and the little "nibbles" lasered into the half shaft holes, front shock mounts, etc to mimic an original 300 series car.

I built 5 of the Brooklands sourced 1000 cars and they were very nice cars. Never built a ND car, but hopefully that'll happen

I did not realize that the first CSX1000 cars were built by Brooklands. From Trevor's book, I thought that the first CSX1000 cars were built by "AC" in Frimley and then near Guildford in Surrey.

Thanks for posting this picture of Carter Gette.
He may be one of the most interesting Cobra guys of all.

If I had a "Time Machine" that picture would be high on the list of first stops.
.....What was he thinking at the second that photo was snapped? Marcos, knew Carter well. I am just fascinated by this Carter. When Carter got behind the wheel of a Cobra, He was not F**king around. A legend and tortured soul apparently. Carter was maybe the first guy to put a cammer motor in a Cobra too. Frightening, but apparently He could really wheel a Cobra

I used to work with a well-heeled CT resident who was pals with Gette. He told of a legendary ride with Gette in the Cobra the length of Park Avenue, through the underpass wide open all the way to the Pan Am building. Possibly even sober. My pal was also good pals with Don Aronow. Both are gone now but my pal's in good fettle.
Great fun when I was a pup.

In a lot of ways I think all of us would like to be as crazy, carefree and "balls to the wall" as Carter was. Right or Wrong and for whatever reason....this guy... is The Cobra Guy.
We all secretly wish we could have done this stuff,... and we all try ......., with blast of 4 barrels and burning rubber, but this guy really, Lived it "Balls to the Wall"
I think this guy would make a damn good movie......for a variety of reasons.

I know this is late to the duscussion, csx3104 was wrecked and had been fixed poorly, but the car was completely "fixed" before it was digitized. A lot of input was given by McCluskey and others in making sure the car was fixed right.

Just so I avoid future questions, I was working at Kirkham Motorsports during this time and was involved in both the restoration of 3104 and the digitizing of 3104.
