Re Shelby

RIP from over the pond, just stripping the trans out otherwise would have taken the 545 for a blast. Dave

A terrible loss to everyone touched by him through his cars or through his foundation;he will be missed by all.

Bill Kesner 05-12-2012 04:37 AM

My wife gave me the news when I got home from work. Talk about a sad day, though we can all keep his passion going with our cars and our friends! Had to throw on a Cobra shirt and call a friend. Will miss him, as well as his presence at the Monterey Historics. He was one of a kind!

neallafrance 05-12-2012 04:53 AM

A great Man for sure, my best thoughts and wishes to his family.

Skuzzy 05-12-2012 05:06 AM

Even with this sad news, it is difficult not to rejoice in his accomplishments. Conflicts, such as this, only arise with people who have left a mark few will ever leave.

RIP Mr. Shelby. And thank you.

Many years ago while attending a car show in San Francisco, CA., I had the distinct honor and pleasure to meet this legend, he was a regular man, humble and down to earth. He has been called to the Great Celestial Speedway, may he rest in peace and thanks for the memories, especially thanks for the legacy. Already did a memorial run with my Cobra upon learnig of the sad news.
May the Great Architect of the Universe takes him well.
Godspeed in the celestial speedway...Carroll.
Fondly

RIP Carroll. Truly a permanent part of automotive history. His audacity and tenacity to create this amazing automobile from a funny little British roadster, has brought us all here today.

Thanks Carroll Shelby

My first memory of Carroll Shelby's cars was when I was 6 years old in 1965 and saw a GT350 at a dealership. My older cousins were watching the assembly at LAX whenever they got the opportunity. Many cars, powerplants and suspension systems later; I thank him for the inspiration. First On Race Day. We will miss you.

There are a lot of sad gear heads out today. Carroll was an icon and a legend. His accomplishments will never die. I wish his family all the best. Carroll, when you see the big guy up there give him a ride in the Super Snake, it will make his day :)
