Sal I believe the procedure is to gut the cars to just frame and body and then cut the main rails out of the car and leave the bird cage and body intact. Then do the same on the CSX and swap/weld them back together and reinstall the panels, foot boxes etc.

I don't see any chassis under these bodies.... |

The body alone, without the inner superstructure, is a gum wrapper. Tom K. and I talked about the swap last weekend. Look at the KMP frame.... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...mp-frame-1.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...mp-frame-2.jpg Just about every tube above the rails is a wrap-point for the alum to be riveted. Plus...you need all those tubes to be in the correct place for all the close-out panels to fit. The process would be to literally hack it all off above the rails and marry the KMP superstructure to the old frame. ...lotsa work. ;) |

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/parts-sale/71736-kirkham-frame-csx-4000-body-again-again.html I guess from reading this, parts of the tubing that attached the fiberglass body to the CSX were moved to the left over Kirkham frame. So at least part of the birdcage was swapped along with the body. So I was wrong... |
Ron, I forgot the smiley face, but you and Sal are indeed correct as you well know.
|
I'd recognize your smiley face anywhere. ;)

This is correct. When I came on board, we had over 130 cars on back order, we struck a deal with Superformance to make cobras, to Shelby specs, just like the HST cars. All the Fiberglass cars come through las Vagas to be finished off. Superformance also makes a mark III and other cars, these are no the shelby's they make for us, this was a new mold from one of our cars. It took a while but we have delivered all the backordered cars and we are adveraging 6 months delivery now. sorry for the confusion Amy |
Always nice to see Amy drop by and grace us with her presence! :D

Amy, hi from the Bluegrass state
Amy it is always a breath of fresh air see you here right up front. What an accomplishment. That would have been unheard of a few short years ago. The turnaround at Shelby has been something short of miraculous. Keep it going Amy, the guys from Kentucky Cobra Club applaud you.
