CAV built the first bunch of 4750 cars before they closed up. As mentioned, they had quite a bit of issues.

Quick question maybe Steve S or someone else can answer. I had a great alignment done but I would like to lower the car about an inch. Am I going to throw off the alignment by lowering the car?

Yes, alignment will change if you lower the car.

If you have a good set up to start with it shouldn't be affected much. Having said that the toe changes through the suspensions travel. That has a big effect on a short wheelbase car like these.

More like 6 cobra's before they folded. They were in trouble from the start. It seams everything they did had to be done over rom the color of the frames to the mismatched bolts.

Anything you change will yield a reaction in more than just alignment. Lowering the car will change corner weights as well as cross weights and roll centers. You will know it on the track but maybe not on the street.
If you are going to change anything, plan on changing everything so, anything that possibly didn't need changing was at the very least,,,,,,,,,,checked.

Having read all the above I think I understood where the fibre cars are now being made.

What I have not found is an information about the non-fibre version. Is that still manufactured for Shelby by Kirkham?

Thanks so much - I wasn´t aware of this.....

So there it is again: Variety..........To the good or to the bad - I guess I will only know once I have finalized mind games and made my choice (and have taken delivery

It is pittyful and interesting at the same time that the (my?) level of transparency in regard to the non-fibre and non-carbon choices is not more detailed.

Even finding out the real differences between Kirkham and CSX package (dispite suspension issues) is pretty tough I feel.

Has there ever been a comparison in regard to the real physical differences of the cars in regard to what they DO NOT have in common (excpet CSX and KMP number)?

Anyone who can help with related information? Would be phantastic and highly appreciated!

Hey Racer,

Go to Roger Krause Racing in Hayward. He did 'em back in the day and has done tons of Kirkhams and CSX cars.
They're linked at Kirkhams web site.

NC427, Not all of them are made by Kirkham. Shelby has a vendor in England who is also making aluminum bodies for them.

Dave Kirkham's own signature line (current) states the following:

Supplier of frames and aluminum bodies to Shelby* for their CSX4000, CSX7000, and CSX8000 289 and 427 Cobra

As for the response to his original question as posted, the correct answer was YES. He did not split hairs, not quite sure why you are at this point in time either.

Need Some help,

I sat in three CSX cars yesterday and trying to make a decision on making a commit to buying one. I sat in a car yesterday that is an HST and the steering wheel was 2"-3" lower than the wheel in my CSX4264, it actually rested on the tops of my thighs and not comfortable, the trunk latch had to turn under the license plate.

I am really close to making the decision for a a street roadster in San Jose.

What are the Differneces between a an HST manufactured CSX and one coming from Hi Tech out of SA. You would think there would not be a delta between them but, there appearantly is.
