OK, maybe I'm just dense - if there is no difference why do they have two different series designation numbers? There has to be some sort of diffeence. Is it just that the 6000 cars are built somewhere different from the 4000 cars?

They ran out of 4000 numbers.

I believe so, as far as 427 S/C's are concerned, but I'm not a CSX expert, or expert anything for that matter.
