Just another example of the government trying to tell me what I should think.

Default Photo flood: CSX2287 at the Washington Auto Show (Jan 2014)

The Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) has a display at the Washington Auto Show, featuring the prototype Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2287) which is the first car to be "inducted" into the new National Historic Vehicle Register. The HVA is documenting the car for future generations according to the strict guidelines employed by the Library of Congress.

I happened to be travelling on business in Washington DC this week, and had some time to visit the show once my meetings wrapped up. Here are some photos from my visit. Sorry for the poor quality, but my camera is not professional grade nor are my photography skills.

Me and the Daytona Coupe

Some detail shots

The roof has been signed by Carroll Shelby, Bob Bondurant, Phil Hill, Craig Breedlove and someone whose signature I can't make out.

The HVA display also included some great signage and pop-up banners.

The U.S. Department of the Interior produced a laser-scanned line drawing of CSX2287 which is going to be placed in the Library of Congress's permanent archives. A limited run of 500 numbered prints were available to visitors who signed up for the HVA newsletter. I got print #289.

Great pics after seeing those it sort of makes you want to hop in and fire up that mother and drive it back to Philly.

Is that an old cali manufacturers plate hanging in the door?

I'm sure you know but just in case if you travel and in Philly Dr. Simeone's Museum is right next to the airport.

I read the pieces about the car being scanned and going into the Library of congress but I did not know they were giving copies out. Good for you. Now I have to go bribe Fred for a proof copy or something. lol

My thoughts exactly.

Yes, it is. Good eye.

The guy from the HVA said that he was looking for any photos of CSX2287 wearing a "C" manufacturers plate. I'm not sure what he meant exactly, but he said he was going to email me so I could look through my photo collection.

SunDude, absolutely phantastic pics and video! Glad no one had the idea to restore this car in the past, it is just perfect with the patina!

Would it be too much to ask for a scan of this page? This would be so great for the garage wall!

I think it's too big for my scanner, but I can try. Maybe I can piece it together.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm going to try to get to the show this weekend.

The vintage bungee cords are a nice touch.

Thanks a bunch for scanning the drawing, I really appreciate it!

I'd love to get a hold of the CAD model too, but I guess they didn't hand out copies of that ;-)
