Default Now I have seen the Shelby turbine car painted in a photo

It is in the new book The Shelby American Story
Author: Art Evans
It is a front 3/4 view
the paint job is quite elaborate, not done in a hurry with lots of
striping, etc.
Hope someday the car is restored and we can see it run
at a vintage race like we did the Ray Heppenstall turbine GT car

Even if they have to have a different brand jet engine
Incidentally in the book which i will review soon, Evans hints the secret trap door to let in more air (more than the rules allowed) was on the bottom of the car.

Do you recall how long ago it was when Shelby bought it back?

Thinking back, I was at a related location once about 3 years ago looking at something else and happened to walk by a group of related cars collecting dust off to the side. One was a dusty and sort of strange looking Indy car. I specifically remember asking about the car wondering what it was. The odd shape and how out of place it seemed is what struck me. Now I wonder if this was the same car being stored temporarily during a period of transition. Can't wait to see some photos to compare with what I recall.

Default Shelby Turbine Indy Car at Mecum Monterey 2014

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but in the interest of keeping related information together...

It's my understanding that the Shelby Turbine Indy Car that was entered in the 1968 Indianapolis 500 is going to be offered for sale at Mecum Monterey in Aug 2014.

There doesn't seem to be anything to confirm it on the Mecum website just yet.
