Default 1952 Allard J2 raced by Shelby

Mecum is selling a 1952 Allard J2 that was raced by Shelby.

http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_de...9_22509_allard

“I’m not going to quarrel with anyone who might feel like calling this machine a hairy brute”, Shelby wrote later of the J2, observing that “once you got to know its temperament and master some of its oddball traits, it took something costing twice as much to beat you,” a fairly accurate description, in fact, of his own legendary machines."

Talk about a motorcycle on 4 wheels...and little to no safety equipment.

The cover of the BJ Scottsdale auction was the aluminum Allard racer, also driven by Shelby. The links don't work to get a copy here but it was an awesome looking car.

Default I heard Shelby approached Sidney Allard with an offer

,,,to make or sell his cars in America but Allard already had a distribution system in the U.S. Shelby then went to Healey, who turned him down, and finally A.C.
I was trying to track down Roy Cherryhomes who supplied the Allard that Shelby raced but sometimes I see his name spelled "Cherryholmes." Does anybody know where he hailed from?
