Default Where do you mount an electric fuel pump?

Have a Holley Red I want to mount, and I'm curious to see what other Shell Valley owners have done. The outlet of the stock tank is so low that I will have to make a rise up and over my differential in my tubing before it will reach the pump. The pump will have to mount on the frame rail just behind the drivers seat in order to keep the inlet side of the pump at the same elevation of the tank outlet. This is on the other side of the differential from the tank, creating the need for the rise and drop in the fuel tubing. There is no other solution to the Shell Valley design that I can see. I am hoping that the pump will create a natural siphoning action, and will draw the fuel up and over the differential. Anyone out there have any comments or suggestions? What did you do to solve this problem?

Well, you're right, in theory the pump should be below the lowest point of the tank. But mine is mounted about a third of the way up, and no problems.

I once saw someones car who had taken this issue to extreme, and had the pump hanging down below the frame as the lowest point on the car, looked like he was draggin something. Don't think that was too good an idea...

Brad,
You've probably figured out where to mount the fuel pump by now but I thot I'd say what I did. I also wondered about where to mount my Holly Red. I finally put it on the right side of the frame on the outside at the rear. It's accessible with the right wheel removed. I drilled a hole thru the frame and put a SS fuel pipe made for that purpose from Godman. I can send a pic if you'd like to see it.

Just to let you guys know, I figured it out! I TIG-welded two stainless mounting bolts to the fuel cell that allowed me to attach my Holley Red right next to the outlet adaptor at the perfect elevation! After pickling the inside of the cell and coating, I think this solution will be ideal and last quite a while! Thanks for the responses! Brad

would like to see some pics of your installation. am facing the same problem on my SV and am looking for the ideal location.
i was going to place the pump on the frame rail, but you have sparked my interest.
