Default Carpet kit

Have any of you Shell Valley owners installed the Shell Valley carpet kit yourselves?

If so, what type of adhesive did you use?

Also, in what order did you proceed? In other words, did you find it better to install vertical panels before horizontal, or vice versa?

Thanks.

Default Carpet Reply

Before tacking down the carpet I put an underlayment down. I bought a product called lytherm from cool and quiet. Helps keep the noise down as well as reflect some of the heat. I used a spray adhesive from 3M for carpet, headliners... I bought it at Napa. The order of the carpet pieces is unknown but the way i appraoched it is to look at the carpet edges. The ones that were dressed I assume would go on the outside or would be the overlapping carpet piece. So far I have placed the tunnel carpet down and the back piece (behind the seat). I went to an auto upholstrey shop and bought black carpet screws to hold the carpet down to the interior body.

Bruce,

Thanks for the input. I did finish getting mine installed. I too used a double foil faced sound and heat barrier. Used both 3M 77 and 3M 90 spray adhesives and glued both the barrier down to the fiberglass as well as the carpet to the barrier. It looks good but I didn't think of carpet screws, but will probably have to go to a few of them around the areas of the bolts holding the sidepipes when they need removal.
