Default Custom headers?

To get everything to sit right inthe Shell Valley, I either have to start cutting footboxes or get custom headers made? (That'll teach me to put a 427 in).

Any suggestions either way?

Default Header help?

When I went from a 427 to a 351W in my Contemporary no one made headers for it I searched around and it looked like the Shell Valley side Pipes were similar. I figured if the side pipes were similar then the Shell Valley small block header would connect to my Contemporary side pipes. With some minor tweaking they fit without any modifications to the foot boxes. Contemporary is no longer in business but Cobra Restorers in Geargia advertises that they have headers and sidepipes for Contemporary.
If this helps give them a call.

BTW why would you want to put such a stone in your Cobra?

Hi John,
It would seem that the "right" thing to do would be to have a set of headers made that would fit the car properly. The down side it the direct relayionship between the word "custom" and cost. Does Shell Valley have a set on the shelf that would fit? Have you checked into what it would cost to have a set made? If it were me I think that I might end up doing some fiberglass work, it's not as expensive as metal work, and I've got more time than money......

If you do decide to go with new headers I may be interested in the ones you have now, they may fit in my E-M, and it would help to offset your cost..

Good Luck!
Jon Miller

P.S. Could someone on the the right coast please stop by Mr. Cranky's house and explain to him that FE's are o.k. too, even better than small blocks from an appearance standpoint. I've been looking at my FE for the last four years and I'm sure that I'm getting more pleasure that if I had spent the time with a small block.....Maybe when I finally get the car on the road I'll change my mind.

Well John, I have been trying to talk to Cranky for a while now, but he didnt get that moniker for nuthin. I'd go to his house in Sopranoville. but I hear it takes at least half an hour just to climb over all the old refrigerators, washing machines, boxes of FE parts on the lawn.........

See you later

Don

I've heard he's never there. He's out looking for an FE to replace that piece of iron he calls an engine.
