I wanted to get my SPF aligned there, they said one of their guys would have to take it for a test drive. This made me a little nervous. I was hoping to trust an alignment machine not a test drive. I left.

Really? On the other hand, I would not trust an alignment guy that didn't want to drive the car after his work was done to make sure everything felt right.

I just read a story about the owner of Cobra Automotive in the book, "The Hemi in the Barn" which is the sequel to "The Cobra in the Barn"

Hemi huh? I'm going to have to pick that up. "Cobra in a Barn" was a great read.

Steve

BTW, I do my own "test drives."

As do I. As do I.

However, two heads are better than one, and someone that sets these things up regularly will have a different perspective than I would---as I typically only drive mine.

"Hemi in the Barn" is a great read. My favorite story is about a reclusive guy that collected stuff for years, and upon his death his relatives asked a guy to help sell the stuff. You'll have to read the book to find out what this recluse had tucked away...

a test drive for alignment is normal. its to verify the car tracks straight and to be sure the wheel is straight when going in a straight line. you wouldn't want to get the front end done and on the way home you notice the steering wheel is crooked

C. A. built the 289 for my 67 GT 350. Just under 400 hp on the engine dyno. Runs great! As for alignment / test drive...no worries! The guys there are used to working on cobras, gt40, shelby mustangs and even the occasional GM product. They are quite capable and very careful with client's cars.
