Versailles Parking brake help

Hey Guys,

does anyone have any information (like and exploded view diagram) of the Versailles rear caliper?

I love my Cobra but getting the Versailles rear disc parking brake to hold firm has always been an issue, Also does anyone have a rear disc conversion kit that is a bolt on for the Versailles rear?

I am almost certain that SSBC has a bolt-on kit for the Versailles rear end.

Is this correct for your rear? SSBC for Versailles.

Yep, Wilwood makes several rear disc kits for any 9" rear end.......

Have one on my race car, got the one without the parking brake,not needed on a race car..........it was a true bolt-on kit, probably took less than an hour per side!!!!!!!!!!!!works great............

My kit uses the Wilwood calipers as such and was a little more expensive, a few years ago it was around 400 bucks.......now I think the same kit is around $550.00

All you need to do is take some measurements of the rear end housing end, diameter and axle and one or two other measurements to order the exact kit to fit your Versailles rear end....

I have a Versailles rear on my 65 Fastback and the parking brake takes a lot of adjustment to work right, (if the srping is weak or dirty, it will not work worth a darn) then it still never could be trusted, so I just did away with the parking brake apparatus altogether.........I've put 4 Versailles rear ends under varouis cars and only had one parking brake work properly out of the 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The parking brake cable must be installed and working for the rear brake to stay in adjustmant.The piston has a gear system that adjusts the piston clearance between the outer shoe and caliper. When installing new pads pump the brake and release the pedal and check the clearance between the outer shoe and caliper, it should be 1/32-3/32. If the spacing is greater you will have to remove the pads and twist the piston counter clockwise to narrow the gap and clockwise to widen the gap. One quarter turn of the piston moves it approximately 1/16 of an inch. When looking at the face of the piston you will find two holes to insert some kind of tool with a handle to help rotate the piston as it is stiff. I used two drill bits and a screw driver. After the initial adjustment is made the e-brake should stay adjusted as long as you use set the e-brake when parked. If you do not use your brake the pads will wear and increase the gap and your brake adjuster may not compensate enough to close the gap fully and your shoes will not grip the rotor. The versailles type housing was only used for three years and the flange is unique to this housing so finding adapters to mount willwoods may be hard to find. I went through this the hard way,If I had to do it over I would have ordered a complete housing assy. w/brakes from an aftermarket vendor.
