Dental floss works better than fishing line because it has a texture. Especially the unwaxed stuff.

You still have to get it off of the two pieces so a petroleum solvent will still have to be used....kerosene might even work but gasoline is very fast!!

I removed 30 feet of "silicone seam" from the gunwale of my boat with gasoline....piece of cake!!
