Default got my gauges now got a ?

I am the lucky one that won the gaffrig gauges.they look great!After talking with Mr.Livors(owner of gaffrig gauges)he sent all the gauges but the speedometer.I need to let him know if I want the cable or electronic type.
I am running a 4 speed top loader,just looking for pros and cons on what your experiences are between the two types and which do you recommend.
Thanks
Bill

Bill,

I have no experience with the electronic speedometers - but one might make life a bit easier if it you can adjust it for different rear-end ratios at the speedo head...

I have an Autometer Sport-Comp electronic. The main advantage is being able to calibrate the speedo to any rear/tire setup using the calibration procedure. Using the mechanical gauge, you could play with it for months, trying this ratio adapter, and that ratio adapter trying to dial it in. But, you have to buy the speedo, and a sending unit for about double that of a mechanical unit.

You can have it good, cheap, and fast, but you can only pick two.

Bill, I have the electronic speedometer in my Cobra> VDO gauges, if you recall from the ride I gave you> It's so much easier to setup than playing with gears to try and hit on the right combo> Good luck and stay in touch. Chris

Bill;
I used Cyberdine Digital gauges in my car, loved the electronic speedo. Used a sending unit from a mid-90's Ford Ranger. worked fine, cheep too!!

I would think the electronic unit would be much easier to install that trying to route a machanical cable. Especially if any part of the exhaust system is nearby.
