brake piston

I'm having trouble depressing the piston into the caliper on my rear disc brakes. I disconnected the emergency brake cable and turned the piston clockwise with needle nose pliers in the two notches in the piston face. I also drained the line of fluid but can't get any inward movement on the piston.
I have an E-M with a MK VIII IRS

I'm new at this, any help is appreciated.

I've not worked on your type specifically, but I'll give you my $.02 worth based upon a Nissan set-up I've encountered.

The pistons twist-in, but be careful, one twists one way and one the other to get them to go back inward. If there is a tension/return spring on emergency brake actuator, try to unhook it.

After I tore a piston boot trying to strong arm the piston back in by using really large channel locks, I bought a little tool that goes inside the piston. JC Whitney sells a "rear disc brake piston tool" for about $8.99 (P/N 38PX3645N) 1-800-529-4486

I am not certain about the caliper assembly you mention, but I use a large "C" clamp pushing on the old brake pad and back of the caliper.

Thanks I appreciate the replies, but I stiill couldn't depress the piston. I took it down to Kragen Auto Parts and they produced a disc brake tool kit that had a device that clamped on to the caliper and allowed you to screw the piston in clockwise while applying pressure. I screwed around with this for two days and the right tool took 30 seconds. It's great building and driving a Cobra, I learn something everyday.
By the way the guys at Kragen are incredibly helpful.
