Default What's your favorite Battery Tender?

I figured I would start taking good care of my battery over the winter months with a battery tender.

I found the battery tender plus and a jr. version. Seems like they will do the job.

Battery Tender - Home of the Battery Tender Jr. - Batterytender.com

What's your favorite battery tender?

Thanks!

I bought a CTEK 3300 smart charger last fall, and am very pleased with its performance so far.

I have four Battery Tender brand chargers, 3 of the originals, and one Jr. One is 5 yrs old, and the others I bought within the last 2 years. All work great, no issues.
I have heard some bad stuff about the Chinese imports, though. As always, you get whatcha pay for.....

Default CTek

Jams
You don't say what type battery you have. Different chargers for different battery types/chemistry.

I have a CTek and very pleased with it.

I've had a Battery Tender Jr. connected to my F350 diesel for several years. That truck has two batteries in it. The Tender continues to work well.

I've had another Tender Jr. connected to my wife's 1966 Mustang for several years. And it continues to work well.

I've had a Battery Minder (very similar to the Battery Tender Jr.) connected to the Cobra for several years. It continues to work well.

Both products sell in the $29.00 range, and are approx. 1.25 amp units. All 3 units I mentioned are generally connected to our vehicles for most of the year.

I take it a battery tender is something that is needed in colder climates, as I have never heard of one. I take it it's a trickle charger? Tough living in paradise!

The vehicles I listed may sit for extended periods. We have season temps that range from 15 degrees to 100 degrees, so temperature is not a factor for me. I use the chargers for constant maintenance. It's cheaper than replacing a battery every 2+ years because of underuse of the vehicle.

Here is some info from the Battery Tender website.

"Why Battery Tender
All Battery Tender battery chargers are designed to fully charge and maintain a wide range of styles of lead acid batteries in ways that avoid the potential damaging effects that can be caused by most trickle chargers.

All Battery Tender battery chargers have the five following characteristics:
Fully Automatic: At the end of the regular charger cycle, every Battery Tender battery charger automatically switches its output voltage to a safe, storage or float level that eliminates the need to constantly check on the conditions of the battery."

I have an optima battery and I believe the Battery tender is compatible.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I will check out the Ctek as well. Sounds like you can't go wrong with the Ctek or Battery Tender.

I have a pair of Optima red tops in the Cobra, and the Battery Tender works fine maintaining them.
The other 3 have lead acid type batteries.

I have 6 Tender Jr's and absolutely swear by them:
I got 8 years out of the last battery in my infrequently-run Ford 7000 tractor (!);
Going on my 6th year with my F350's two batteries;
Motorcycle, ATV, Cobra, and another tractor all start strong-as-new, no matter the temp and whenever I need them.
