Default What's Your Organization Tools For Valve Train Parts ?

When tearing down/assembling heads, what do you have to keep everything in order, DIY cardboard, wood, egg crate, deadicated ready built plastic trays, etc ?

For my cobra I use the red plastic tray. For our racing truck I made one from a 4x12 piece of wood. That way all the holes and spacing are correct for that motor.

Sorry I do not. I'm not home so unable to take a photo. Will be out of town for 3 weeks. I didn't mention it takes a lot of time it make one. Drilling holes, sanding the fuzz off, braking the hard edge of the holes, and painting to the bottom of the holes. The one I made is for a GMC straight 6. We will be using it for years and years. It's really just a block of wood with holes in it. If you want I'll take a photo of it when I get home.

The red plastic one for my Windsor is not perfect and is now worse that I've installed a Jessel shaft setup. If I pull the heads again I'll probably make another tray.

Yep, think I'll go for the DIY route, the plastics can get expensive.

If I was still rebuilding engine like years ago, I may have spent the cash. All I used for years, even on the sprint car, was cardboard, markers and zip bags.
