Unhappy Header to Side Pipe question

Hi guys,
Trying to fit my side pipes to the headers and mount them to the car. I have the type that have 4 pipes from the header to the side pipe. Does anyone have any tricks to aligning them for assembly.

Not sure this helps or not as I'm not sure how Midstates attaches the sidepipe to the header.

While going through the Classic Roadsters sidepipe muffler swapout, I cut the muffler off in front and rear. Had the turnouts welded to the new mufflers, and a slip fit (3" ID) welded to the front of the muffler.

Now, I have a 4 into 1 "J" pipe. It attaches to the header with 4 bolts, and a 4 hole gasket in between. Slip the 3" ID muffler adapter over the 3" OD "J" pipe. Bolt the turnout up to the car.

Then I ran 3 self tapping sheet metal screws through the muffler & J pipe to hold it in alignment. Took assembled muffler & J pipe back off and into the welding shop for final assembly.

While you have the J pipe apart, now is a good time to have the inside ceramic coated for heat retention and rust protection.

This is how my sidepipe to header is setup as well. I haven't had much trouble? All I might be able to add is when you are sitting on the ground, balance the sidepipe on your lap. Already have the front tire removed as it's much easier to manuvure this way. You'll probably have to barely place one header tube into the sidepipe at a time using your left hand (if you are on the drivers side) to separate and help guide each tube into the prospective pipe on the sidepipe. Do so ever so slightly with each one trying to barely have them go into the other pipe. Once barely inside the lip a good shove will make them go on. Not much help I know? Patience......

A LARGE hose clamp with small spacers between the tubes will hold the primaries in place as you attemp to slide the side pipes onto them. A little never seeze (SP) works wonders too. Sometimes yo also need to slidee a flatblade screwdriver between the tubes to move them a little.

Thanks guys, for the input.
I wound up loosening the header bolts.
That frees the pipes a little to make them move easier. Then I sliped the sidepipe on and retightened the whole thing.
Still a pain but its getting done.
