Default FE Starters

I need to replace my starter for my 427 FE. What's everyone recommend. I have a mini torque now and its worked for about 8 years. I understand Ford has a mini torque starter that is supposed to work quite well. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Ron

The bearings, brushes, and starter drive, and solinoid are all available separately for the Hitachi type mini starter. Is this what you have? What is it that has failed? Not too difficult to repair.

Rick-

It's an off brand starter. Problem started with not starting at all. I tapped starter and it worked. That problem is the solenoid, but when I crank it over, there is a slight grinding noise. I figured it might be time to get a whole new starter.

Thanks,

Ron

See if Powermaster makes a starter for your FE. Summit sells them, $160 or so. Much better than OE Ford.

There's a reduction starter up on e-bay at the moment that you can get with polished bits if desired. Under FE.
Cheers Nick
