Performance Engineering
For those wanting a quality, guaranteed build, check out Performance Engineering (513-738-5001)and Eric Hinderberger in Ross, Ohio. Eric has built two prior engines for our Superformances and is building the new 418 stroker(500+hp) for our new Superformance which is being shipped this week. Eric prides his dyno and chassis dyno builds as being some of the best in the business and I can attest to the courteous customer support that is provided after the build and installation. I didn't realize the importance of a good chassis dyno until it isolated a small flat spot in the 650 Speed Demon on our last engine. A few minor tweeks and fuel/air adjustments made a significant difference in acceleration and performance. My brother has a 427 FE that was built/assembled/dyno'ed and adjusted by Performance Engineering and hasn't had one problem in over 9k miles.
For once you can feel secure with a trusted build with no excuses or apologies.

Ditto to what Dan said !!!
Eric at PE also built my engine. If you are looking for a builder who stands behind his work, then Eric is the man for you. He will go that extra yard to make you happy. I'm telling you this based on personal experience.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to e-mail me.
Tom

I would also agree. When I wasn't sure on which engine I wanted Eric helped me answer my own questions.I ended up going w/ his 460.He was fair in $$$$ and also made some changes to help make it more reliable. The motor makes about 20 more hp and 50lbs. tq. more than he expected..550 hp/550 tq...He put in a aluminum flywheel and a roller cam and lifters.....Car should be here on jan. 13/14........CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAn't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Performance Engineering
I just visited with Eric last week and was extremely impressed with the quality shop he runs. He is going to build me a 418 Windsor stroker 525+hp for my Superformance car I am buying from Dynamic Motorsports shortly.

Here's another way!
Hans,
try to e-mail Eric at:PECOBRA@aol.com
You'll be very happy with every encounter that you have with him and all of his staff. As I posted above, my personal experiences with Eric have been top shelf and exemplary. He stands behind everything that he builds and has always been receptive to his customers needs.

As of Friday, I signed on with Eric to build me a 427W to replace the 408 I have in my SPF. This one will have ALL the right stuff, and built by someone who does it correctly.
I spent a lotta time this go-round researching and questioning engine builders, and although there are several top-notch shops to choose from, Performance Engineering is right up there. Not cheap, but baby, in this regard you definitely get what you pay for, and pay for what you get - period. There is no such thing as a "bargain" high performance motor, IMHO.
Plus, Eric has the patience and the courtesy to spend time with his potential customers, working out the details, and landing squarely on the target. I have every reason to believe this new motor will be everything it's supposed to be, and the customer support won't stop the day it gets shipped.
Damn, I'm looking forward to this for a change!

Tim,
I talked with Eric shortly after your call. It sounds like you'll have a beast when he's through with the final build. You'll have to harass him just a little about his shiney dome and say it's from me.
Best of luck, I hope to see you there sometime soon.

I recently purchased spf 1255 (titanium / no stripes; 351W, AR heads, Speed Demon, MSD 6AL) from the original owner. Eric built the engine and I spoke with him before I made the deal.
He was helpful, but the main thing is - the car runs like hell. Never misses a beat, whether in traffic or on the open road.

Pileing On
Agree wholeheartedly.
I'd add just a couple of things. First, Eric doesn't go with fads, he goes with what works. He'll check out new technology--I've seen him do it and change--but not for the sake of changing. Second, he stands by his work and makes things right even if it's not his fault. Means a lot, particularly for a non-mechanical type like me. And finally, he's interested in what makes YOU happy, not what what makes HIM happy. That's what sold me in the first place--having done ALL the homework I could, he crafted an engine that made me happy.
Scratch that, make that VERY happy.

Eric built me a 418W the end of last year and delivered it on December 1. I wasn't able to start driving it until mid-March, but I've put on a little over 6000 miles since then, including a 3000 mile round trip to Albuquerque, NM.
We spent hours discussing this motor on two separate occasions before I decided to have him build it and Eric was very patient, answered all my questions and made a few suggestions to help me get just what I wanted. This motor is slightly detuned from his standard 535 HP version and produced 499 HP on the Performance Engineering dyno. The amazing thing, though, is how tractable it is. I can putt through town in fourth gear at 30 MPH with no bucking or spitting or loping and then just accelerate away. It still makes gobs of power and seems to me to be the ideal motor for a wicked fast, fun-to-drive car. I've not had a bit of trouble with it and it starts right up and runs fine on pump gas.
I'm very pleased with Eric's motor and the way he does business. If anyone is considering one of Eric's motors, I'd be glad to answer emails with specific questions.
