A dumb wiper arm question

I have reinstalled my wiper transmissions for the right and left side. The arms were never put on as I was waiting for paint.

Tonight I unwrapped them and noticed they have a slight kick in them. Can I assume then that they are to park in that same direction as the kick points?

Also where do they sit preferrably when parked?

Lastly do they just slide onto the spline of the transmission and then clip on to the groove with the cliplike finger thats on the arm's female end??

I did a search but turned up nothing useful

Yes, they should park in the direction of the bend. You want the wiper blades to lay along the bottom, parallel w/ the windshield frame when they are parked. Make sure the wiper motor is in the parked position, then slide the arms onto the posts till they click in place. Make sure the arms are where you want them parked when you do this!

The arms can be made to park on either side turning the wheelboxes 180° (i.e. cable running in back rather than in front).

TY for the answers to my post ...everything nailed well. I had heard of a horror story from my builder where a guy had not indexed his home point correctly, put the arms on, and then watched as they overtravelled down and screwed his paintshop in 2 wipes.

Tim,

To check the travel and NOT wack the paint, take two 6" plastic wire ties. Put them over the posts, turn the wipers on and get an idea of what ya got before you put the real thing under test

I just take a 1" square piece of tape and stick it on the end of the lug. Draw an line on it then you can check park position and travel. Would not do to have the blade park on the paint or sweep off the edge of the windshield.
