Dipstick wouldn't go back in !!
I had a hard time getting my oil dipstick back in...Seems it was hitting something when it was almost all the way back down. After a bit of pushing and manuvering it finally went all the way in, but this had never happened to me before. Any sugestions as to what was holding it up ?? Thanks in advance guys - IIIIIII'MMMMM BAAAAACK !!!!

Argo,
I know this is dumb and you have already checked it but on one of my cars the dip stick has to go back in the same way every time or it will not go without forcing it. So when I start to slide it in, if I feel any bind I look to see which way the loop at the top is turned.

Ron - That's what I thought, and because of the way the hoses are arranged around the ring of the dipstick it always goes in the same way...Which I tried to do, but for some reason it was getitng caught up...Maybe all the fumes from the high octane got me a little nutty....Or was it the smoke from the 360's... Thanks Ron.

Agro 1, do you have a canton oil pan? the baffle and gate sometimes can come apart, loose a gate spring or stick open exactly at the point that the dip stick goes into the pan. Scott.

Scott - Yup, just got the new Canton decked out road race pan with the trap doors and all...I thought it could have possibly been the one of the trap doors stuck - you think I should pull it and take a look ?? I need an oil change anyway...

Agro-
There are so many possible jokes about you having problems with your dipstick that it is almost too easy. However, since you haven't been around in a while, I'll spare you. Where were you?

Pull the pan and look for the point of interference. We had to trim a little in the Canton pan to eliminate the interference.

It is entirely possible you are hitting the windage tray in the pan.

Chap - Oh come on - show me no mercy man, I like the punishment
Been buying a house and working too hard...The house buying part has brought about some issues with keeping the Cobra, I can swing it without selling it but I may end up unloading it for practicality reasons, amoungst others...The new place doesn't have a pool, and that pretty blue monster in the garage is a pool waiting to happen - thought about selling it and putting in the pool with a Cobra tiled in the bottom as a remembrence...However with what I've got into it and what they are selling for, I'd rather swim at the beach and hang onto it for a year or so till the economy bounces back. Was also away from here just because I couldn't bring myself to devote anymore attention to a hobby that may be coming to an abrupt end...Makes me sad just thinking about it...Oh well, I'm only 31, plenty of time later in life for the race car...Take it easy.
