Default MSD Coil Buys The Farm At 450 Miles?

Took #142 out for an errand today, about half way home, sputters out. No spark. Coil dead as a doorknob.

Pulled the MSD Blaster 2, replaced it with a Accel, fired right up. FYI, running a MSD 6AL box, and Ford Duraspark Distributor

Called MSD's tech service, explained what happened, and the tech ruled out heat, vibration or incorrect installation (they are best installed vertically, as is mine). He just had no idea, other than offering "could have been a defective unit".

Anybody else out there had a MSD coil lunch with 450 miles on it?

Bud

Good thing it's garanteed forever. Send it back they will send you a new one.

In a word Yes. You have too. That's why NASCAR guys run dual coils, ignition boxes and hardware.

Default always use Blaster 3

which is the high tower....the Blaster 2 (low tower) was burned down the side and arching to terminal in only 6 miles...the MSD 6 puts out a lot of juice...always get the high tower

Thumbs up

Hey Bud Man,
A little insurance is to install an MSD radio "noise" filter. This is a large capacitor ,about $25. The capacitor filters out spikes in voltage and AC hum for a radio[not that you have one]. Trick I heard of, seems to work, I have 19,000 miles on the snake with no ignition problems.
Perry.
