I have been happy with a stainless steel brush on a die grinder and lots of elbow grease mixed with brake cleaner. I now have every part coated with JET-HOT for just this reason. Jet_hot also keeps corrosion from eating things and always looks brand new . If you had coated your intake even the area where exhaust crosses over will not discolor, helps keep fuel charge cool and expells heat. It is a great product.
