Default oval air cleaner advice needed

I have a question about my 429 .I want to put an oval air cleaner on it but the distributor (MSD Billet )sits higher than the carb does anyone know if MSD makes a squat cap and rotor set up for ford 429 .the engine has an edelbrock manifold and holley 750 on it .On most pictures I see of the oval air cleaner it looks like the cleaner sits over the cap.I don`t want to just raise the carb with a plate because of potential hood clearance problems Thanks Jeff

The oval air cleaner is probably the most restrictive air cleaner you can put on that or any motor. Take a look at the K&N 11" with the top filter. It's ugly, but it flow air.

For show, Edelbrock makes an oval air cleaner that should fit, or at least clear the distributor anyway. The element is also a K&N and will fit the 11" K&N unit above, but with a slightly taller element.

Jeff, take a look at the photo in the thread Demon vs Holley. That is the 11" K&N air filter I was describing. Not cheap. About $130 or so, but you wash them and re-oil them.

Jeff,

Off topic. Long Island, eh? I'm originally from L.I. You anywhere near Farmingdale? Friend of mine is Electrical Engineer/Vice President during the week, and a biker on weekends, wants a ride in a Cobra. Been telling me all Summer he'll make it to DC for a ride. If I give you a phone number, will you take him for a spin? Make him a believer. He'll buy his own Cobra, and you have another LICC member.

This oval setup is run on an SPF. Requires a bit of work but I think it should clear the hood and the distributor. I am going to attempt a version of this for next season. I am currently running the small oval and I don't think I'm getting sufficient airflow.
