Break cooling ducts 289 FIA
Hello all,
I received today one pair break cooling ducts for my 289 FIA Cobra. I ordered them at Cobra Restorers USA.
Now I'm not sure if they are right.
The left one is not looking like the right one!!
1. For my opinion the left is perfect . (See picture)
2. But I think on the right the mouth is to chubby. And there is also a dent on it! (See picture)
Can anybody explain me if this is right (like it should be) or one is a bad make!!!!
MANY thanks
ALF

I bought mine from Bill Kemper - renouned for quality and accurate parts. They sure look like mirrors of each other to me.
They are sitting on my shelf - my FIA car is in the future.
BTW - they have a small tab for mounting at the rear - the ones ERA shows on their web site and the ones you show are shaped slightly different and don't have this tab - no biggy, but we all know how anal we can all be about that kind of stuff.
I noticed during my recent Kirkham tour, theirs had the little tabs, too.
For what it's worth.......

I contacted Cobra Restorers regarding the different mouth form. I also found on the catalog, they sent me with the order, that there exists a front and a rear version. For my opinion they sent me the wrong version!
The answer I received on this points:
Mouth: the original cooling ducts where made by hand. They never looked equal!!
Wrong item: you should order the other one!!
Bruce (or somebody)
Please send me the phone-, fax number ,post- or e-mail address from Bill Kemper.
I'll contact him and ORDER the parts from him!!!

I contacted Bill Kemper, to order some cooling ducts.
Now he answered me, that he hasn't anymore on stock!!!
Please can somebody tell me an other seller, where I can found "Break cooling ducts", they are looking perfect???
Which kind of quality are they from ERA? Are they painted?
Thanks for the any help

Give Motorsports International a call, they might have the ducts.

Alf - I got your email - I've been travelling. Looks like you found Bill's number. The ERA ducts also do not have the little tab on them. I can't recall if they are painted, or just use tinted resin, but they are symetrical...
Being as my FIA build may be 2 yrs off, I will sell you my Kemper mades for what I paid - I think $150 +-.
Alternately, try Kirkham - as I said, they looked identical to the Kempers.

cooling ducts from ERA
Today I received the new cooling ducts I ordered from ERA.
They are looking like twins!!!
I can say, if one of you is interest to buy some cooling ducts for his 289 FIA, order it from ERA!!!
I made some bade experience. I ordered the first one from Cobra Restorers and they are crap! The answer I received regarding this difference was a joke!
And I hope for all of you, that the ERA cars are mad on the same way like the ducts! If yes; it is really a great car and with this support you receive from ERA it is a good solution!!

Alf - congrats - glad it worked out..
I decided to keep the Kemper ducts for my FIA build some day.
If I had sold them, I wouldn't have the $$ when the time came, and I wouldn't have the ducts.
Good luck with the car.
