Greg...
The 427 street set-up was simply the mechanical pump on the engine.
The 427 Comp and S/C cars had the oversized 42-gal tank, with two pick-ups.
The higher (normal) pickup ran to the mechanical pump on the block.
The lower pickup went to a pair of S/W 240A-12 pumps in the trunk... and then up to the output of the mechanical. thru a tee-connector.
Why?... when the top feed ran dry, they would flip on the electrics, as a reserve. Crude and simple solution to "no-fuel-gauge"
