Engine run stand
I'm finishing up a 302 and am looking to build an run stand. I am hoping for some guidence. Does anyone have a plan or website to reference.
I have seen one for sale at PAW, but at $799 it seems that I could build / find one cheaper.
This is for getting the bugs out and waking up the neighbors, it will likely get limited use.

I have one I made 20 years ago that you need the transmission attached. The wife dragged it to the trash today.....I dragged it back. You can have it if it is shippable, Kinda big. If I can I'll take pictures tommorow. Maybe it will give you ideas. Gman

Here's another thread on this topic - I posted a few pics of my stand on it.
Northern Tools (and others) have engine stands for "storage". I bought one of these, added wheels and a radiator support. A local lawn mower boneyard provided the gas tank, a cheapy gage set and a little wiring and voila - a run stand. Total cost including hoses and misc items was about $200.

I looked at your stand. It is a bit easier to just attach a bellhousing and bolt the housing to the stand.
That way you can attach a starter and, a very important item, make sure the starter will work on the engine.
Wish I had pictures, but the one I used had the motor mounts and a cross bar to run two bolts through into the bellhousing.
The radiator was movable and had an electric fan that was turned on as the temperature climbed.
It was primitive, but functional and allowed the engien to run for five hours ( which was what I wanted ).

Thanks guys, that is exactly what I was lookig for.
Gman, I see what you mean about shipping, that really isn't practical. The picture is very helpful though. I appreciate your effort and your wife's patience. 
zipzip, I have been following your build. It looks like our paths are similar...self build, engine first, SB...
Think I will total up the parts and compare to Brian's listing...although $400 and no major building looks pretty good when compared to PAW...
