Default MSD Box Noise?

I have a MSD 6AL box and the other day when I was driving I heard what sounded like a quiet electric hum coming from the box. It almost sounded like a hum you would get with an electric fuel pump (I have a mechanical pump so that wasn't it ). I only hear it periodically and the car is running fine.

Is this normal? Has anyone else heard this?

Chaplin,

Its normal. The coils and caps inside vibrate as magnetic fields are induced in them. If you listen closely you may even hear a tick each time it fires a plug. Drive faster so you don't hear it.

Chappie
Jims right--never noticed it on my other car but on this one I would hear it and it was driving me nuts thinking something was wrong. Then by accident I happened to hear it when I was under the hood and had the engine running at about 12-1500 rpm.

Jim/Gary-
Thanks guys. Good to know nothing's wrong.

John- I can't hear much over the pipes. The only reason I can hear it is because it is mounted inside the car under the dashboard. And I've only heard it a couple times.

A noisy MSD box in a Cobra?
Turn the radio up a little more.

Turk,
I would but I don't drive the most accurately detailed 4000 to original specification since the demise of CSX 4027, and therefore, I do not have a radio.

Junket-
Just to be safe, I called MSD and they said that it is normal for the box to make a slight humming noise and that it is nothing to worry about.
