Why do you need to calculate the blowby? Have you considered the expansion caused by heat? For the poor old Gasholes - If her lips are tight you shouldn't get any blowby

With an area that small I wonder if the flow would be laminar or random; heck, you might even get a fair amount of venturi effect at the opening.

blykins,

One thing that must be considered here.

Compression rings do not seal because of static tension to the wall.

They seal due to combustion pressure.

The combustion pressure pushes the rings outward toward the cylinder wall.

Gap will certainly effect the pressures imposed on the backside of the rings.

However, a simple equation relative to gap will give you bad numbers.

What you need to measure is BMEP relative to end gaps.

And extrapolate the numbers RE: End gaps.

Calculus will not get you there by itself.

One must not forget the thermal effects as well.

Now that I have cleared that up!!!!

General and Special Unified Field Equations? Oh the easy stuff!

Can we move on to something a little more difficulty: how long would it take a one-legged grasshopper to kick all of the seeds out of a dill pickle?

There are only Kosher dill pickles, all others are fakes!

We might need to discuss the ADA guidelines and dispensation we need to give to the one-legged grasshopper prior to determining how long he'll take to kick the seeds out of the (Kosher) dill pickle.
