All I can tell you is that a couple of badly - done (by me) full-bore starts smoked my "kevlar" plate. It still works OK, but I reckon I took several 1000's of miles of life off it. Bite point moved considerably upwards on the pedal.
How this would be with an organic plate I cannot really tell, but Kevlar is not proof against ham-fistedness.
I do rolling start runs now.
