Default Shot Jag shocks

My shocks are blowen on my 1985 Dax Cobra w/XJ-12 frt & rear suspension. I have no idea on what the correct shocks to buy for this English manufactured car. It has "Spax" adj coil over now.
What do I need to do to get the right shocks (6) the first time. My coil rate seems correct....ride height wise.
Roger

My car has spax adjustables all round too. They are a very standard coil over shock arrangement with adjustable spring seat. You keep the existing springs so rate and ride height should be no problem. There should be no problem finding a US equivalent, a Monroe or whatever.

If you note the extended length, the type of upper and lower mountings, and their diameter, any decent parts house should be able to go through their catalogs and find shocks that will replace your Spax. You may also be able to able to look at the various manufacturers web sites and come up with the numbers you need, once you have your dimentions.

Try here.......

https://www.xksunlimited.com/xks/

They have Spax shocks that should be direct replacement, albeit pricey!

Don't be tempted to pay over the odds to get Spax replacements. In England where they are made Spax are seen as a cheap alternative to such makes as Koni and Bilstein. Spax also do a very upmarket version called Trax Spax but I have no experience of these.

Why not just telephone Dax and ask them? They are alive and kicking in Jolly Olde.

They will probably need the age of the car etc.to tell you which shocks you need. BTW I could not personally recommend Spax - many folks find they do not last very long. Ask Dax what they recommend these days.
