Default Spf Build Out Questions

I will be taking delivery of a new Spf in the next couple of weeks. I have got the engine build started, a stroked 351. I am planning on the new Tremac 600 for trans. My question is the dealer I am buying the car from has engine and transmission kits to aid the completion of the car. For me these kits seem to be priced a little on the high side. What are some of your opinions on this? Are there some other good resources to use for the small parts?

Dan,

I am just finishing up my 393 Stroker for my Everett-Morrison. Most of the pieces and parts, including the stroker kit, I purchased on E-Bay. All in all I spent roughly $1500-1600 for everything. That includes dart heads, pistons, crank, rods, intake, oil pump, gaskets and most other parts. Aside from any machining, that is relatively cheap. You may want to consider this option for some parts and depending upon what route you take, it may save you some bucks. Let me know if you have any questions about parts and such.

Thanks

Chris

I am sure the dealer is making his dime on the parts, but it might be worth it to you.

All the little parts* add up very quickly.

Make a list if parts you need, and the prices you can get on them. Comapre that to the 'kit' the dealer sells.

*little parts being eveything needed to put you big HP motor into the chassis and get the car finished.

Part of the cost, that you didn't mention are probably the install kit parts. They are all the hardware to bolt everything together, belts, hoses, etc. They come all neatly labeled in packaged bags to ease in locating and using them. For me it was worth it on the MKIII, but I preferred to locate all the hardware for the Coupe and went with allen head capscrews to give it the appearance I wanted.
