Angry 351 oil bypass

Here is one for the books. I have a 351 Windsor. 110K on it runs great...... But when I change the oil the filter is dry, that's right no oil in it. I have tried a couple of different filters and have gotten away from Fram (bad news). I have plent of oil pressure and my lifters are not making noise, so I know oil is getting to the engine. I just changed today and dry again. This time I forced compresed air up both holes. Had a hard time sealing the return, but got air up the low pressure side in the middle. I will pull the filter in a day or two to see if that worked. The center has a big hex in it, but I dont know what will fall out if I take it out. Is there an internal bypass other than the one in the pump which just regulates pressure ?? I have been changing my oil often to compensate.

Help !!!

The block may have been converted or run with a dry sump pump. The filter passages sound like they have been plugged and the filter is bypassed completely.

Ford's have a habit of draining the filter after shut down on some engines. How long are you waiting till you pull the filter? Are you priming the filter before you install it? Nothing is behind the hex nut and there is no way that I know of to bypass the passage for the filter. One of the holes is direct from the oil pump and if the other was pluged you would have no oil pressure in the engine.
Does not really sound like you have a problem.
