Im sure this harness in the photo just interfaces the one on my engine to the desired vehicle. Im thinking this one takes the place of the large one I have that runs all the BS I dont need I.E. A/C, PW,PL,radio,gauges etc. etc.  If I could get the schematics to this one and a Gen II, I should be able to figure out what they did to that harness and follow suite.
