Thank you for the quick reply!
Since I am going with Superformance.............they require PPG Global paints.........how close is Tunnel Green code 47102 and Forrest Moss Green code 47103 to Ivy Green a-1738?
Greens are really tricky. Any ideas???

The following is the message I got from autocolrlibrary.com on my request as to the original Cobra Green. In the SAC registry it just states it's a custom color.

Hello Ray ,

My very reliable list says it's Ivy Green code R .We can make your

color exactly , in any of PPG 's modern finishes .

----- Original Message Follows -----
> Do you have the code for the 1966 427 Shelby Cobra. My car

When we produce original colors, we do not use offsets (colors selected that appear similar but lack the proper appearance in sunlight). We have a complete lab stocked with the correct toners and metallics to make the COLORS OF YESTERDAY come alive today.
Colors are reproduced in our lab using original formulas and standards authentic to the era. Each color order receives a spray-out panel and is CERTIFIED by our LAB to be correct to standard.

Thanks,
Jim

Just give them 1965 Ford color code "R" (Ivy Green), they can then mix the correct color in any of the manufacturers paint systems.

A little tid-bit of backround information for you regarding CSX 3352. The original owner was 17 years old
when he bought the car. He made his money playing in a rock n' roll band. His band manager co-signed
for him so he could get the loan.

Now - get this - he said that, at one time, he had plans to have the car completely repainted in a bright
metalflake green color. Thank goodness he never found the time or money to make that happen!

Ivy Geen is PPG #43337. Hi Tech (Superformance) has actually changed over to Glasurit paint, but can mix via either the PPG code or the Glasurit code.

Wow This is an old thread, as I asked the question in 2005.
I was told that my car was one of the first custom color SPF's. Ivy Green
This was the color of the first cobra I remember seeing as a kid.
Then when I saw that green dragonsnake up at Watkins Glen, I had to have that color

The registry says the original color is Ford Ivy Green but Ivy green is a metallic green. My car was originally a non metallic dark green. I had a friend and his car was the same as mine. The friends car had a tag on the firewall that said the paint was RM Acrylic U133. I have not had any luck finding out what color that is. When I contacted RM they couldn't find U133. My car is now a metallic green and I have been toying with the idea to put it back to the original color.

I always thought the original color was British Racing Green. The problem is that BRG is a generic term for all kinds of greens including metallic green. So if anyone knows what the original color actually is I would like to know it.

Slight threadjack, but since the OP has his answer and on the subject of color for original cars - was there a navy blue for original 427s similar to the one available on the CSX 4000/6000 cars today?

CSX3210 seemed to be a similar navy blue color, but not sure if it was an original color or if its the same.

Ivy Green looks very similar to my favorite color for the 67-68 Mustangs; Dark Moss Green. But for a Cobra, I'm going with the Navy Blue that appears to be the same as what's shown in Doug's photo of CSX 3210.

Ivy Green is a metalic, but more importantly, is one of the best colors for hiding dust

I was going with one of the traditional blues (Guardsman or LeMans) until my wife saw a photo of Doug’s CSX, then she made the decision for me….Navy Blue.

I’d love to have a 67 or a 68 Fastback but it’s not going to happen since I had to cash-in a lifetime of brownie points for my CSX.

You can't do any better than a rich navy blue
Plus, if the wife likes it, you are golden

The navy blue does not hide the dust very well, but these cars are small and easy to clean, so it doesn't really bother me.

Anyone on whether this color was available on the originals?
