Are you looking at one of the lever shock conversion kits? For all around use you will see a difference. Just disabling the lever shocks and going to practically and tube shock was an overall improvement for me. One of the conversion kits made just for it will be better. For around $1300 Hawk makes a great replacement front end for the MG that will use you kingpins and swivel axles with an adjustable coil over suspension.
If you haven't done so already, I updated the girling/GM front brakes to wilwood with very good results. Do a search and you will find the details on how to.
Also, check the Unique forum for a new rack lay out. The bump steer is obsurd in the MG front. Although I think a conversation with Hawk may yield some alternatives.
Moss has anti-roll bars cheap and one of the guys on the Unique forum is going through some pretty extensive tuning that you may find of help.
