Default '87 302ci heads . . . Need Help!

What size are the holes for the bolts that hold on the exhaust on the heads?

Seems to be metric thread, want to be sure, someone......

They should be 3/8 x 16.

3/8 x 16 only went in about 1 or 2 threads before they stopped turning.

Tried a couple different holes but the same result.

Do not have any metric on hand to try.......

See if a 3/8 NC tap will go in without a lot of effort. Maybe there is corrosion in the threads.

Default head bolts

I believe a 7/16 diameter head bolts on late 302's and 1/2 diameter bolts on 351 heads. I think you will need a busshing for the 7/16 bolts. I got mine from ARP.

A 3/8" course tap seems to go thru with "pressure" on it....

Can these threaded holes get "warped" some how?

most likely corrosion from the bolts that were in there before.
